Throughout the game, Christopher experiences flashbacks of his defenceless family being killed by pirates. His mother is subject to sexual violence as she is restrained by two men, one of whom is seen standing between her legs and thrusting. Armed with a gun and sword, Christopher himself can kill anyone he comes across in the towns of the Caribbean, including unarmed civilians. There is reasonably frequent use of the word ‘fuck’. In taverns, players can bet their in-game reales on a dice poker game and then use their winnings to buy items, crew and repair their ships.
