The game was rated PEGI 18 for frequent strong violence towards human characters, the use of sexual expletives and depictions of sexual activity with visible genital organs. Not appropriate for persons below 18 years of age.
The Order: 1886 is a third person shooter set in Victorian era London where a group of soldiers known as The Order use advanced weapons to battle humans and supernatural enemies. Players take the role of Galahad, a member of the order of Knights who has been wrongly accused of conspiracy against the Order and must uncover the truth to clear his name.

The game contains depictions of the following:
1. Torture – at the start of the game the player’s character Galahad is chained to a tub of water and is repeatedly dunked and punched by two guards.
2. Hand to hand combat and the deliberate breaking of bones during fights
3. The use of grenades and explosive projectiles can cause mutilation and dismemberment.
4. Frenzied bloody knife attack – Two men fighting, one wielding a large knife which is then plunged into the neck of a character. Lots of blood and gurgling noises as the knife is twisted and then repeatedly plunged in and out of the neck.
5. One of the game characters is a human that can transform into a Lycan (Werewolf), in one scene it is seen in its human form ripping open the throat of a dead human character with its teeth, and consuming the flesh etc. This is all accompanied by sound effects.
6. There is the frequent use of the sexual expletive ‘fuck’ and derivations of the word.
7. Sex is seen and heard whilst the player’s character is in a brothel. The player’s character enters a bedroom where a woman is astride a man on the bed and obviously engaged in intercourse, although the woman genitals are not seen, her male companions are seen as soon as he stands up.
