Violence in this game is largely restricted to implication and fantasy. When struck, cartoon-like human and animal characters will emit small bubbles of light or, more infrequently, huge light beams. When killed, characters often disappear in a cloud of light. The height of the game’s gore comes when one character stabs himself, but as blood spurts from his back, light effects lessen the realism. In some cut scenes, anime-style still images feature blood or the threat of violence.

Action is balanced with heavy story-telling, with much of the narrative unfolding through Japanese audio and on-screen subtitles. These captions frequently feature mild swearing. The words ‘bastard’, ‘bitch’, ‘crap’, ‘damn’, ‘shit’, ‘whore’ and ‘piss’ all appear, many of them repeatedly.

The game was also given a sexual innuendo descriptor, for infrequent discussion of sexual matters, such as one character’s spoken desire to suffocate in ‘boobs’.
