During the game the player must complete puzzles that gain the character’s entry to the next area. Rose is frequently killed in various ways, such as objects falling and crushing her, and being attacked by enemies. All of these deaths are unrealistic with the character falling to the floor with a small splatter of blood before the screen fades. If you fail a puzzle, the way to reset the section is by killing Rose. If you hold a button she coughs up blood, then falls to the floor, it will then offer you the option to re-start the section. There are sections in the game where it asks you to ‘offer blood’. In these sections the player must purposely kill Rose to progress in the game. These involve her self-inflicting the violence by putting herself in a guillotine, hanging herself, being crushed by the cogs of a trap door, and entering an iron maiden. The violence is often not shown with the majority of it being implied and done out of view, mild blood splatters and pools of blood are shown during these scenes.
