Players pick up and use a variety of weapons to defeat fantastical mechanical creatures, which often resemble spiders and centipedes. Most enemies explode into pieces and then disappear. Bosses flash or are knocked backwards until their health bars are depleted, at which point they also explode into particles.

The player’s spacecraft flashes red when damaged and the player’s health bar reduces. When the health bar is exhausted, the screen fades to white. If all the player’s lives are used up, there is an explosion and the spaceship disappears. There is no sight of injury to the pilot character, who is not shown, and the violence is only implied.
