Multiplayer detective game based on the manga and anime ‘Death Note’, in which players are assigned ‘Team L’ or ‘Team Kira’ and must perform actions and investigations in order to discover the secret roles of other players.

Rating issues

Disturbing imagery is found throughout the game, with one of the death scenes involving a character walking towards a noose in a dark room. The scene cuts away before the character reaches the noose, but it is obvious that they hanged themselves. There are also milder death scenes, such as characters having a heart attack, which is implied by the screen shaking and reddening, before the character falls over. When any death scenes occur towards players, their characters will be shown as dead to other players.

Other issues

This game also contains non-realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters. If a player’s name is written in a Death Note, they can be killed in different ways such as being hit by a truck or being shot. Characters react to violence in a cartoonish way, such as being completely flattened by a truck so the character looks 2D, or a bullet bouncing off of their body as if they were made of rubber. They are completely unvoiced characters so no verbal reaction is ever heard. No blood or wounds are shown as a result of the violence.

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items, in the form of cosmetic items, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.
