Dungeon Keeper Gold

This game has received a PEGI 16 because it features strong violence. Not suitable for persons under 16 years of age.
Re-release of the 1997 game in which players build and manage a dungeon while protecting it from invading characters. The goal is to conquer the world by destroying these ‘heroic’ forces and rival dungeon keepers in each realm. The Deeper Dungeons is an expansion which adds 15 new levels.

Rating issues

This game features some strong violence. In particular, the opening cinematic scene shows a human-like Knight character fighting against Orcs, using a sword to kill them. The Knight is then decapitated by an Orc. The Knight’s head disappears from view and his body falls to the ground, with a small spurt of blood from the neck. Violence during general gameplay is less realistic, featuring small and non-detailed characters, although some blood is shown. Violence towards the player’s character is implied but not visually depicted.

Other issues

There are some disturbing images, including a fantasy character hanging from a gibbet, and humanoid shapes being roasted on a spit. One area of the dungeon is labelled ‘Torture Chamber’ and depicts skeletal figures kneeling and being flogged, although there are no visible injuries and their reactions are unrealistic. There is also use of the rude ‘middle finger’ gesture.
