The game has a monochrome colour palette and coupled with varying degrees of illumination from dark to daylight and atmospheric sound effects, there is an overarching anticipation during some gameplay of violence, strong threat or dread.

There are a couple of incidents in the game in which small human-like characters are killed, one of these involves a female character in the level in which the player is a soldier, he confronts the female character who immediately falls to her knees in front of him and raises her arms in a pleading and begging motion, the player’s character disregards this and proceeds to kill her with his sword which is done with a great deal of vigour. Another incident is when a very large black fantasy character with bony protrusions impales a bearded human character with something akin to a long bony finger, lifts him up and then fixes him to a cliff face and breaks off the appendage leaving the character dangling. He later proceeds to pull himself forward on the object and eventually falls off it.
