Gameplay invariably involves attacking non-playable characters, such as adoring fans or members of the media, using guitar riffs or throwing gold record discs. The guitar riffs create a wave of noise which causes a condition called ‘face melt’, at which point the character will fall to the ground, however there is no gross violence and there are no visible wounds to be seen. The throwing of gold record discs provides a physical means of attacking a character, when hit the character will respond by recoiling slightly, this is accompanied by a reduction in the characters health bar. Once this expires the character will fall to the ground, again there are no visible wounds and no blood effects. The player can attack innocent civilians with various weapons and explosives.
