The game is set in a bright, comic book-like world, with gory but cartoonish violence similar to animations like Happy Tree Friends or Itchy and Scratchy. You play as a young boy called Rise, equipped with a talking gun and infinite ammo. When killed, sometimes Rise will disappear into blocks and respawn, other times he will turn into a cartoonish skeleton then disappear. In the most extreme instances, he will be completely blown apart by explosives; in turn, he can shoot the heads off enemy characters. Both instances are accompanied by a lot of blood.
