SILENT HILL: The Short Message

This game has received a PEGI 18 which restricts availability to ADULTS ONLY and is not suitable for persons under 18 years of age. This rating has been given because it features a suicide theme, self-harming, and use of strong language.
Horror game in which a young girl head to an abandoned apartment to meet her friend, only to find herself trapped inside. The girl must escape her own fears and the monster lurking in the corridors to discover why she became trapped and make it out alive.

Rating issues

This game deals with issues including suicide and self-harm, including sight of a character jumping off a roof, sight of a character holding a knife to their wrist, and sight of wounds resulting from self-harming. There are various references to suicide, for example in news clippings and diary entries.

The game also includes use of strong language (‘fuck’).

Other issues

There are several intense sequences of horror in which the player’s character is stalked and chased by a monster, through dark corridors. When it catches up, the player’s character is impaled through the chest, with an accompanying blood splatter.
