The atmosphere is dark and creepy, with tense music throughout. Unknown creatures can be heard shrieking and text implies that characters are in imminent danger. There is a scene that shows a whale corpse, including the tail and lower torso, lying on the ocean floor. The carcass has some flesh visible, though gore is not detailed.
