Xeno Crisis

2D arena shooter game in which players battle their way through hostile alien outposts. Up to two players can take control of human soldiers with gun arsenals at their disposal and are required to save hostages, fight against aliens, and battle with otherworldly bosses.

Rating issues

This game features moderate but unrealistic-looking violence. When humanoid characters are hit, they fall to the ground with small blood effects. When the player’s character is defeated, there is a still image of the character’s body lying in a pool of blood. The image is pixelated but more detailed than the depictions during general gameplay. Violence against fantasy characters is similar. When shot, blood effects spray out and they disappear completely. Blood puddles can be seen on the ground and remain there for a few seconds before also disappearing.

Other issues

The game also features images and sounds that may be scary to younger children, in the form of frightening-looking bosses.

In some rooms, hostages can be seen with their hands tied together. When the player runs past them, their hands are freed and they disappear from screen while the player hears “Thank you”. These hostages are unable to be injured during gameplay. If the player chooses not to free them, the hostages will simply disappear from the screen at the end of the level.
